Winter will be unbelievably tough for so many people facing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic. Please donate or volunteer at the @Tesco Christmas Food Collection from 19-21 November & help @FareShare get food to those that need it most #everycanhelps
From 19-21 November go to your nearest @Tesco store and donate or volunteer. The Tesco Food Collection will support @FareShareUK in delivering vital food supplies to frontline organisations providing a lifeline to those most affected by the coronavirus pandemic #everycanhelps
The 2020 Tesco Food Collection will take place 19 – 21 November. You will be able to sign up for a three hour shift on any of these days. It’s possible to sign up as an individual or create a team to bring friends and family (from the same houshold) along.
We understand that this is a very difficult time and only ask you to volunteer if you are fit, willing and able. The health and safety of FareShare’s volunteers is the number one priority, so please do not volunteer if you have been, or are, shielding, or are required to self-isolate.
Staying safe whilst volunteering in store:
- You will be asked to bring your own face covering to wear whilst in store
- You will not be approaching customers directly but holding a ‘lollipop’ sign (which will be sanitised between shifts)
- You will be able to sanitise your hands as often as you want with the sanitiser provided.
A student volunteer from last year’s collection commented “I loved volunteering last year – it was great to directly help local communities of people in the fight against hunger. I’m passionate about food justice and I believe everyone should have access to healthy, nourishing food ... the kindness I saw was brilliant and gave me a lot of hope.” Farihah, student volunteer from a previous collection.
We hope you can spare the time to help out this year, so more food can be collcected for vulnerable people this Christmas.
