Role Description:  Administration Support Volunteer (Reading Rooms)

Overview:  The main aim of the Reading Rooms programme is to invite people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities to enjoy and engage with reading.

Key Responsibilities: Printing and Photocopying / Collating Reading Materials / Creating Packs and Organising and Filing

Time Involvement:  You will be assisting the team to prepare reading materials in advance of the Reading Rooms out in the community.  This role would be 3 hours per day x 1 or more days depending on your availability.

Location:  Verbal Arts Centre, Stable Lane and Mall Wall, Bishop Street Within, Derry/Londonderry,  BT48 6PP

Training and Support:  Full induction for the role.  Guidance and support throughout from main staff.  Bi-monthly volunteer meetings for you to meet and network and hear more about how the materials are used in the community.

 

Person Specification: 

The successful individual will:

  • Have general administrative experience
  • Organisational skills
  • Good Communication skills
  • Be able to participate as a valued member of the Reading Rooms team

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be able to attend an introductory session to go through the role of an Administrative Volunteer with the Verbal Arts Centre
  • Be available for your allocated time at the centre
  • Help to prepare materials in the allocated time scale
  • To inform staff if there is any problem with any aspect of the role and duties

Desirable Skills:

  • Computer literate
