Overview:

Drink Wise Age Well is an initiative funded by the Big Lottery Fund to help people make healthier choices about alcohol as they age. The overall Drink Wise Age Well (DAWA) programme recognises that adults aged over 50 may experience a number of life transitions including loss and bereavement, employment changes and physical health changes that may present challenging times and can lead to increased social isolation. It is possible that due to such life transitions an individual may find they are consuming more alcohol as a coping strategy. It is our aim to deliver a project that provides alternative coping strategies to alcohol use, hopefully reducing alcohol related harm.

Volunteers are b vital to the work of DAWA and we have a number of different roles that may suit you. Anyone who volunteers for DAWA will be supported by addiction NI.

Key Tasks:

  • Identifying relevant community groups to provide alcohol awareness half day workshops.
  • Delivery of half day alcohol awareness workshops.
