Conservation Volunteer - Woodland Trust


Location: Faughan Valley

Time: 1-2 days per month to carry out a wide range of practical conservation tasks throughout the Faughan Valley

This volunteer role will contribute towards the Woodland Trust's strategy of preserving, growing, maintaining and restoring woods and trees across the UK.  As a Conservation Volunteer, you make a difference by being our eyes and ears on the ground, and feeding back any issues to the volunteer manager.  The Faughan Valley project conservation volunteers will meet regularly to carry out a wide range of practical conservation tasks throughout the Faughan Valley.

Some of the tasks and duties carried out across the Valley include:

  • Woodland maintenance
  • Tree planting
  • Invasive species control
  • Gorse control
  • Surveys (wildlife, wildflower, tree and visitor)
  • Hedge laying and maintenance
  • Scrub clearance
  • Pond creation and maintenance
  • Wildflower seed collection
  • Litter picking
  • Wildflower meadow creation and maintenance
  • Path maintenance
