Community Support Volunteer - Depaul


Role Description:  To support staff within the Floating Support and Housing First Teams with joint visits, booking appointments and answering the telephone.  These Services work with service users suffering chronic alcohol and substance misuse, who also lead chaotic lifestyles living in the local community.  Duties would include visiting service users with staff to provide practical/emotional support (home management etc).  Some office admin duties could also be included: data input, answering phone calls, arranging appointments and updating files.  Volunteers should be mindful that service users may have poor physical and mental health, chaotic lifestyles and low self esteem.

Location: Floating Support & Housing First Services, 66-70 Strand Road, Derry/Londonderry

Requirements: 1 morning / afternoon / early evening a week.  Details can be negotiated.

Criteria: Organised and proactive approach.  Good communication skills including active listening skills.  Empathetic.  Basic telephone / computer skills.  Empathetic approach to vulnerable people with high needs.
