About Us

The Churches Voluntary Work Bureau was originally established in Derry by the four main Churces in 1983. It has the needs of the voluntary workforce at heart, regardless of political beliefs. More recently, in 2003 the Bureau has now established a branch in Strabane.

Our Main aims are to promote volunteering in the local community; to recruit, match and place volunteers in a wide range of host organisations; and to support volunteers through advice, training and expenses.
Go on give it a go...

Many people think about volunteering at some point in their life but many people simply don't get around to it. Anyone can volunteer and all types of people are getting involved; young people, older and retired people, men and women, people from diverse ethnic backgrounds, people with children and other caring responsibilites, people in employment and people who are unemployed, the list is
endless. (NB if you are on benefits you can still volunteer, just ask us about this).
The Benefits of Volunteering...

Volunteering is not all give, give, give... As a volunteer you have your own reasons for getting involved, be it to meet new friends, learn something new, give something back, campaign for something you believe in, to get a job, or to try something different. With information and links to all sorts of volunteering opportunities your local volunteer centre can help you find something to suit your needs.
